Instructional Design
Instructional Design is the systematic development of instructional specifications using learning and instructional theory to ensure the quality of instruction. It is the entire process of analysis of learning needs and goals and the development of a delivery system to meet those needs. The goal of instructional design is designing appropriate learning material for different learners with systematic methodologies in IT field(Piskurich, 2015, p.21). In other words, IT designers could use different IT design methods to design different learning materials for different needs of audience, different learning objectives and different types of learners. In recently years, The demand for instructional design librarianship is increasing. The trend is due to higher education's focus on integrating information literacy content in academic disciplines. The generic ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) design model is traditionally used to develop information literacy instruction and content (Mullins, 2014).
ADDIE Model
ADDIE is a systematic process in IT design field, it could be divided as 5 phases: Analysis phase, Design phase, Development phase, Implement phase and Evaluation phase.
ADDIE Model
(Piskurich, 2015, p.24)
(Piskurich, 2015, p.24)
1. Analysis
In Analysis phase, the designer should analyze the audience's characteristics, needs, prior knowledge, type of learners and limitation according to the background information the designer collected.
2. Design
After Analysis phase, the designer should decide what kind of learning materials should be designed for the project according to the result of the Analysis phase. Normally, design would design learning materials as handout, video products, books or voice recording forms. The designer could combine many kinds of learning material's form for different situation.
3. Development
After design phase, the designer should find the disadvantage of learning materials and the errors in learning materials. Then the designer is required do some activities that could enhance and revise the course materials and content according to feedback from Analysis phase and Design phase.
4. Implement
Once the designer complete the Development phase, the next coming phase is implementation phase. The goal of implementation is ensuring every material and procedures of the project are valid. By this way, the designer is encouraged to find some participants who has same characteristics with target audience to make a simulation training to identify if the project is valid or not. Moreover, a facilitator or supervisor also is important to be added in the project.
5. Evaluation
After implementation phase, the last phase is evaluation phase. Both formative and summative evaluation are very important. Formative evaluation is evaluating every procedures of the project according to the data the designer collected from the 4 previous phases. Summative evaluation is a conclusion of the project's result according to audiences' final grade and feedback.

ETEC 544 Reflection
I have learnt how to do an effective design from Doctor. Leh in ETEC 544 class. The proposal of doing design is making an appropriate way to make trainee complete and achieve their goal and destination. It focuses on creating effective training for audiences. The process of Instructional Design contains extendedly of determining the states and needs of the trainee, defining the end goal of instruction, and creating some interventions to help the audience unstinting and warm up well.
During I was studying ETEC 544 class, I had learnt that design process includes analysis part, development part and design part. Moreover, I also have learnt that I should do Pre-Instructional Design Activities, that means I should make the target audience’s needs be clear and measure my design’s performance, costs. After this process, I should do analysis to make me understand what I need to do, for this procedure, I should determine the data-collection method I will use, and I also have learnt many analysis methods and data-collection methods, such as survey, examination and Trainee Analysis, these three methods we used in our final project. Then I have learnt how to make right design and how to write correct objective in ETEC 544 class, and also we used In-Class delivery system in our final project. How to develop Instructional design is another part I have learnt during this quarter, the facilitator guide, handout and storyboard are really important to improve the target audience study well, and we make handout in our final project.
According my own perspective, Instructional Design process is a tool to access success for my future career.

ETEC 644 Reflection
I have enrolled ETEC 644 course in spring 2017, and I have learnt a lot from this class about instructional design.
After I reviewing all the process of my instructional project, I really enjoyed the development part because I adjusted and revised a lot of course content. Moreover, I also adjusted the sequence of my course obeying ADDIE model. By this way, I have learnt a lot of knowledge about instruction design from this part.
The only one challenge I faced in my project is that 5 learners couldn’t attend to my class because of time constraining. Therefore, I only recruited 10 participants. I will range the class time to make it could appropriate all participants’ time.
I may use the knowledge I learnt from ETEC 644 course to design employee training for my future company. By this way, I will continue enhancing and absorbing the knowledge to make it appropriate reality.

ETEC 541 Reflection
I have learnt a lot of knowledge about e-Learning design in ETEC 541 class. The most one made me impressed was how to combine games and simulations with e-Learning. By this way, we can attract enough attention from learners in online class. Moreover, we also have learnt the meaning of do, absorb and connect types of activities, and I could identify these 3 types of activities to make e-Learning class effective in the future.
